The label

WESTEND began with a straightforward frustration: clothing that looked considered on a rail and fell apart in a year. We wanted to make the opposite — a small, repeatable wardrobe of pieces that hold their line, their colour and their shape.

Bangladesh already makes clothing for much of the world. It usually does so anonymously, to a buyer's specification, with the name on the label belonging to somebody else. WESTEND is an attempt at the other thing: pattern-cutting, sampling and finishing under one roof in Dhaka, with our own name on the garment and the origin printed rather than hidden.

The label is deliberately narrow. Six categories, one collection a year, and a production run that ends when it ends. We would rather sell out than discount our way through a warehouse, and we would rather explain a price than hide it behind a permanent sale.
